Siemens Xelibri : a fashion-oriented range of mobile phones created by Siemens mobile

Xelibri was a fashion-oriented range of mobile phones created by Siemens mobile in early 2003.Two collections each consisting of 4 bizarrely designed phones were released before the Xelibri project was dropped due to poor sales in April 2004. The first Space on Earth (2003 Q2, Xelibri 1 to 4) collection with its Star Trek influences was designed in house by Siemens whilst the second Fashion Extravaganza (2003 Q4, Xelibri 5 to 8) collection was contracted out to IDEO design.

ThreeGMobile believed that most readers like tech - gadgets, mobile phones with lots of exciting features. However, tech - phones may not generate income for the mobile phone manufacturers. Siemens has produced lots of great feature phones. In 2003 they established "Xelibri" brand, positioned as fashion phones. The series of phones do not have much advanced features, but have very special outlooks. Like the real fashion, the new Xelibri series will be available according to the season. ThreeGMobile got the 2003 Spring / Summer series. They are the first series of Xelibri phones. We have tried them and now we share our first impression!

The Xelibri series for the Spring and Summer 2003 include four models. The model number are very simple named as "1" , "2", "3" , "4". Xelibri names them as "Personal Communication Device" (PCD) not mobile phone. The theme of the series is "Space on Earth". If you take a quick look of the phone, you will realize the feeling of "Space". The designs are different from the normal mobile phones. If you wear them on the street, we are sure that you will attract lots of attentions.

The Series :

- Siemens Xelibri 1 : The Retro letter "X" design

- Siemens Xelibri 2 : The Alien Beauty

- Siemens Xelibri 3 : The Mini Pendant

- Siemens Xelibri 4 : The sharp V design

- Siemens Xelibri 5 : Looks like a freakin´ zord

- Siemens Xelibri 6 : It looks like a womans make-up case

- Siemens Xelibri 7 : Just slip in on to your pocket or where ever you choose
